About the band
Driving on the Right are an alternative rock band based out of West London, in the UK. Originally formed in early 2003, they draw inspiration from groups such as Senseless Things & GVSB.
They built a reputation for blisteringly tight live shows, honing their talents touring with the likes of Hell is for Heroes & Hitechjet. In the midst of this, a limited edition single was released, with the pressing selling out in weeks. A debut mini-album on Bravestar Records followed in 2005, produced and engineered by John Hannon ( Hundred Reasons, Kids Near Water) ‘Life Starts Here’ was a huge sounding record and earned strong reviews, including 8/10 from Metal Hammer and 4/5 from Kerrang!, confirming Driving on the Right as a force in the UK underground scene.
Sadly, despite this initial success, the band sadly announced their split at the end of summer 2006. In the years that followed, Nick, Paul, Lee and Jason all continued to perform and record music though, including vocalist Jason’s solo album ‘Sparks’, and Lee’s collaboration with Mark Keds on his post-Senseless Things outfit, Deadcuts.
Now to mark the 20th anniversary of ‘Life Starts Here’, Driving on the Right are reissuing the album on streaming platforms as well as releasing a new single, ‘Confidence’. Produced by Morgan Nicholls (The Senseless Things, Muse) and mastered at Tonteknik Studios in Sweden, ‘Confidence’ has brought DotR full circle and reflects their enduring creative spirit and artistic growth.
Whilst the band are choosing to not actively re-enter the live arena at this moment, their music continues to inspire the UK alternative scene, and this reissue offers fans old and new the opportunity to rekindle their love affair with Driving on the Right.
